nextweek.

  • Nov. 25th, 2009 at 3:31 AM

Its been one year since my trip to western australia and i finally decided to post up the pictures from that trip after much procrastination. It took me a long long time to edit around three thousand over pictures and summarize the whole 2 weeks into two hundred plus pics. So stay tuned for next week posts. =)

- met up with my lecture mates to snap some pictures with our graduation gowns before returning it to the studio. the thick and heavy gown is such a nightmare in a humid weather like ours. by the end of the night, our tops were practically soaked through and through. furthermore, i dropped my lumix and broke the lens that night, while attempting to place it on a camera stand. RIP my dear cammie, you have served me well all these months.

- trying out kay's dslr. picture quality is awesome but wayyyy to bulky for me.

- photographers of the night.

- one of the many shots we took. most of them are on kay's and randy's cam and can be found on my fb!

- randoms of the night.

- us, minus the gowns.

- wore the gown one last time for some pictures with my grandma and my bro. my grandma had our picture printed out and hung it in her living room. lovelovelove! met kay, ber, tony at novus for some rounds of drinks afterwards. had beer for the first time in a long while and felt so bloated afterwards. beer = beer belly = so true! which is exactly the reason i stopped having beer.

- my grandma! =)))

- novus at singapore national museum.

- the drinks. tried this beer off the tap called pure blonde, and it was rather good.

- the gang. minus randy who was MIA.

- the other pics of the night + a group shot.

- dinner at villa bali. revisited the restaurant my parents brought us to on my birthday. surrounded by all these greenery creates such a nice ambience for dinner but the mosquitos that comes with it does not! menu was extensive, with indian and thai dishes taking centrestage.

- pre-dinner drinks. frozen strawberry margaritas always hits the spot.

- the spread. yums!

- mellben seafood with dear and gary. the crabs are so good there, especially the white pepper crab. craving for more of those right at this very moment.

- the other dishes we had before the star dishes arrived.

- the creamy butter and white pepper crabs + two scoops of island creamery each for dessert afterwards

- casual dinner at nydc as i was craving for their meatball that ate manhattan pasta! generally, im not a big fan of meatballs, especially the frozen kind but i super love these big and juicy meatballs at nydc.

- what we had + the elephancino drink.

- bought two new cameras, lumix fx48 for everyday use and lumix lx3 for special events and such. decided to stick with lumix because it has never let me down yet! dinner afterwards at the thrice yearly penang hawker buffet event at york hotel. we have never missed going for this event since the first time we tried it.

- i love hawker food. nothing else satisfies me as much as those.

- thats only the first round to share between the both of us.

- the dessert + yummy drinks at tcc afterwards.

- went to tint the maserati at eileen's place. dinner afterwards at boon tong kee, the best place to go when a chicken rice craving kicks in. tried using the lx3 and the pictures didnt turn out so well because i have not learnt how to set the functions properly yet. well, at least im better at it now, i hope.

- with eileen. i look so huge beside her! haha.

- pictures are a little yellowish as i set it in aperture priority mode, which was obviously a mistake for indoor phototaking i guess.

- island creamery icecream again!

- a random picture i snapped from a magazine, showcasing a socialite's display of hermes birkin and kelly bag. i bet she has like at least 50 for those, in every colour combination possible. like OMG, i want those 5-figured babies one day. =)

After 3 years of sleeping til late, mugging only a week before the exams, hanging out intead of doing projects, skipping lectures to go for breakfast or teatime snacks, entertaining ourselves when the boring lecturers start droning on endlessly and basically having fun, its finally time to graduate from university. This officially marks the end of my status as student after 22 years of age. I've never been the ambitious kind of person, preferring to be contented with whatever i can get, thus climbing the corporate ladder from now on is definitely not a compelling idea.

School life, you either love it or you hate it. I'm very lucky and blessed that i've enjoyed every stage of it, minus the shitty moments like receiving a bad test grade or something. The best thing to come out of it is not those "learn and forget" knowledge that many subjects bring, but the fact that i've made so many great friends along the way. I've always believed that good friends are made during school days, when the pressure to succeed and the ability to scheme to get ahead in life is that high yet. These people are like the main reason that made every stage along the way so enjoyable, so thank you guys (you know who you are)!

For the past few months, whenever i have to fill up any application / membership / customer appreciation forms, i still check off the "student" option when i face a question about my occupation. I mean after years and years of selecting that option automatically, its kinda a hard habit to break. Well, the only positive thing corporate life brings is the ability to apply for a credit card after three months and. . . i really cant think of anything else at the moment. When i do, you'll be the first to know.

- bad early-morning traffic congestion on the way to school.

-before the convocation ceremony.

- receiving my certificate during the ceremony and the buffet spread at the atrium afterwards.

- phototaking with my parents.

- met up with my friends afterwards.

- the flowergirls.

- massive photo-taking session with schoolmates.

- the guys who made school projects such a breeze, and had fun while at it. =)

- the quintessential "thowing the square hat" shot for all graduates.

- my parents booked a table at the majestic restaurant to celebrate this occasion. its such a charming place!

- set lunch with all their signature dishes.

- i love the shark's fin cartilage soup and the boston lobster noodles the most.

- check out the size of the lobster on my plate!

- the additional dishes we had + random shots of everone.

- with mummy.

- group shot. =)

- cute cutleries.

- a dessert each to end off the meal.

- checking out majestic hotel.

- with all the interesting chairs and sculptures around the hotel premises.

- went home to open my graduation gifts from dear.

- took some photos again around dear's garden.

- one last jumping shot. =)

Read this quote off mel's tumblr and found it really amusing. "Girls do not dress for boys. They dress for themselves, and of course, each other. If girls dressed for boys, they's just walk around naked all the time" - Betsey Johnson. How true is that! Thought i share it with you peeps here. =)

-Went to the famous mellben seafood for dinner with my aunts and family, only to be greeted by a super long queue at 6pm. thats like crazy early for queues to snake this long. had sri lankan crabs cooked in 3 different styles that night and i liked the white pepper ones best. its spicy in a way that it tickles the back of your throat; absolutely satisfying. went to island creamery with my parents for some ice cream to cool off afterwards.

- the spread.

- had yummy homemade ice cream at the crowded island creamery.

- had ayam penyet at lucky plaza for dinner one night. i would have extreme cravings for these from time to time, purely cause they have such killer chilli that totally numbs the tongue. but that wouldn't stop me from requesting for an extra serving or two, or three actually. dear always laments that i can totally just survive on eating chilli alone.

- had their soto ayam, fried fish, happy soda and avocado smoothie as well. thumbs up for everything.

- yakitori at far east plaza again. we just can't get enough of these sticks and sticks of pure bbq joy.

- tried their kimchi claypot soup for the first time and my only complain is that the claypot is way too small. gimme more of this delish soup!

- caught the movie "the proposal" and thought that ryan reynolds is such a major hottie. the most surprising thing was even dear agreed with me. headed to sushi tei for a super fufilling dinner afterwards. dessert of ice cream (yet again!) and borders for our monthly magazine-stock-up trip.

- never a fan of popcorn, we always have these fried chicken for snacking in movies. plus the occasional smuggling of subway sandwiches into the cinema.

- the spread at sushi tei.

- as you can see, dear was ravenous.

- had two soup orders cause we couldn't decide on which one to order! the kimchi hotpot was from their fusion fiesta promotion, which sadly, has already ended.

- yami yougurt and ice cream for dessert and borders for magazines. bought one whole pile of them and had trouble lugging it to the car.

- dinner at jim thompson thai restaurant on @ dempsey. another nice place for a dinner date, with its lush deco and relaxing ambience at their alfresco area. extensive menu but steep prices over there though (our dinner costs almost 300 bucks!). what i really like about this restaurant is that their thai-style fried kway teow taste almost 99% similar to those goddam awesome ones i had in phuket. never thought any restaurants in singapore would be able to replicate that dish! would only go back for those yummy kway teow and beef tenderloin.

- pre dinner drinks - their house special cocktail for me and lemongrass drink for dear.

- the appetiser plate of 4 different dishes in a two-person portion.

- the rest of the food.

- dessert of durian sticky rice for me! dear hates the smell of durian but whatever. lastly, a snapshot of us by the restaurant's water feature, although its too dark to see it in the picture.

- ubin seafood for dinner.

- their roasted pork knuckles taste as good as the german ones of not for the side sauce of black pepper and thai chilli sauce that made it a more chinese-styled dish.

- woke up early for some breakfast of my favourite handmade noodles and carrot cake from balestier and macdonald's for dear. plus sharkfin galore that night whereby dear's mum slow-cooked this one big pot of sharkfin for dinner. personally, im not a big fan of sharkfin itself, as im more interested in the soup/broth. i think its so cruel to kill sharks just for their fins! i laid off frog's leg for the exact same reason (you know, kill frogs just for their legs).

- met liz, kj and grace for one last dinner before grace left for dubai. went crazy shoe-shopping and i think we prolly bought like EIGHT freaking pair of shoes amongst the 4 of us! dinner at this self-cook teppanyaki place at ion. shopped a lil more and settled at mac's for chats about everything under the sun til almost midnight. loves. so mel's in canada and grace is in dubai, its only us three for dinner dates now.

- at rubi, where we went oooo-ing and ahhh-ing over their cheap and colourful flats.

- at sho teppan. this shabu shabu cum sukiyaki cum teppanyaki place. the only annoying thing was that the restaurant mainly offers mainly counter seats and talking in a group of more than 3 is such a hassle.

- and obviously we are a group of 4.

- the food. it was very good, esp the part where you get to decide when you wanna stir in your raw egg.

- liz with her salmon fish set. she's a pescetarian, meaning she doesnt eat meat, only seafood. if only i have the will power to adopt that diet, i'll be soooooo skinny.

- random pictures while shopping around.

- all the stupid photos we took.

- and the group shots. kj, i know you are reading this, post these up on fb!

off to dinner. ciao! =)

No inspiration to write about anything interesting here, so i won't. therefore its just pictures, pictures and more pictures. as much as i know, i'll definitely be more psyched posting up my hk pics, graduation pics and all the more exciting pics, but i just have this obsessive-compulsive habit of posting everything in chronological order. i seriously wonder if i'll ever see the day when i finally get to update my posts with current and non-backdated pictures. =(

- dinner at this rather new vietnamese restaurant at millenia walk. everything was rather good, especially the beef noodle soup. ended the meal with dessert at bakerzin again.

- the vietnamese starters and the drinks.

- with the lemongrass chicken sticks. yums!

- the rest of the food + icecream tart and panna cotta from bakerzin.

- dinner at manhattan fish market and mini melts icecream for dessert.

- the main draw for us is their awesome flaming prawns! the sauce is simply out-of-this-world.

- bubblegum flavoured mini melts icecream. happen to pass by the vending machine for it after dinner and remembered how much i used to love it.

- claypot rice dinner at claypot fun @ big splash. personally, im not a big fan of claypot rice, especially the traditional ones with the salted fish. I HATE THE SMELL AND TASTE OF SALTED FISH. like i would literally feel like barfing when i go near salted fish. thank god the claypot rice here doesnt have those smelly things.

- assortment of cakes from the patissier. cannot stop raving how good ALL their cakes are. i seriously haven't ate any cake from the patissier that i hate yet. once, i even tried this earl grey tea cake when everything else was sold out and was surprised how much i liked it.

- champagne + 3 slices of cake in one sitting is truly indulgence at its best. =)

- random dinner of my fave roast duck from loyang + the famous hill street fried kway teow and fei fei wanton noodles from bedok.

- met the girls for more bakerzin dessert and catching-up session one afternoon. hung out at barefoot with sinting for a bit before heading to tanah merah countryclub's chinese restaurant for dinner with dear and family.

- we cleared the desserts in a matter of minutes. first to disappear was the waffles with icecream and strawberries. we are talking about the matter of seconds here! haha.

- and all the essential toilet shots. the ladies washroom at paragon is OUR photobooth everytime we meet.

- goofing around with sinting at barefoot's storeroom. trilby hat vs trucker caps, which do you prefer?

- at tanah merah cc. the one whole suckling pig we had for dinner. it was oh-so-good but too i thought it was way too expensive for just roasted crispy pig's skin.

- the rest of the spread. we had so many dishes!

- the family.

- the assortment of dessert + a kodak moment of me and dear after dinner.

- dinner at tcc. its been long since we went back there for late-night dinners. they changed their menu a little and thank god all our faves are still in it. tried this new dessert that had caramel soy pudding and jello in it, and its was surprisingly good! had to leave the word "soy" out when describing what pudding it was to dear because i doubt he will try anything that sounded organic to him. hah.

- korean bbq once again. we go there so often, we dont even need to look through the menu to know what we are gonna order anymore. a must-try for anyone who loves bbq!

- dinner at this famous fish head steamboat place, tian wai tian, off serangoon road. ate here since i was young as it is located near my grandma's place. i love love love their fish head soup!

- dinner at la cantina italian restaurant. its our favourite italian place right now. for anyone who wants to bring your other half for a romantic dinner for two, this is the perfect place with great food and lovely ambience. i love it that its rather secluded = no crowds = yay!

- ordered a 1kg cake from the patissier to indulge in. so sinful but im such a sucker for anything sweet & creamy.

=)

I wont be in town for the next few days, so i figured that i should update this week's entry now.

- After the ferrari national day drive (in my last week's post), we headed to st regis for some dimsum before heading home. basically everything there is overpriced, but i must say that their baked pork pastry (char siew sor) is one of the best i ever had. which is the main reason why we always go back there.

- the warm and cosy ambience at the restaurant.

- we had one whole peking duck between the two of us. dear loves the peking duck here.

- and the other dimsum dishes we had, including the above mentioned yummy baked pork pastry. wished every piece could be bigger though.

- feeling satiated, we knocked out afterwards.

- met with the girls at this steamboat restaurant near princep street for the last get-together before mel returns to toronto. we had quite a spread for dinner that night and were totally stuffed. headed to loof for some drinks afterwards. it was my first time there and i really liked the place alot!

- look at the number of plates we had on our FIRST round. think we ticked everything on the menu except those yucky innards and all.

- love the smoky effect created by the steamboat of this picture.

- and all the camwhoring during dinner.

- the group shot when we were done. i had to crop away half the table cause the waiter is a bad photographer and we left such a mess on it! not very glam to see half-eaten meat strewn all over the table, isn't it.

- grace drove us to loof afterwards. it was a short ride but the three of us in the backseat were thrown around quite a bit. haha.

- toasting with our first round of cocktails.

- the group shots courtesy of kj's bf.

- some of the other random pictures of the night. mel, the last picture is for you! *wink wink. =)

- went to maserati to collect dear's new car. the Maserati Quattroporte Sport GTS. he said there's only like less than 5 of these in singapore currently. headed to overeasy for dinner afterwards. the food was passable and i love their idea of the all-day-breakfast menu.

- saw the limited edition 16M scuderia there as well.

- the Quattroporte Sport GTS.

- the interior of the car.

- the rims and engine + us in the car.

- settled into one of the booths at overeasy. had their alcoholic lemonade which i found rather potent and had their cheesesteak sliders for our starters.

- cute little mini burgers. its the pity the steak filling was a tad tough.

- our mains of their special burger, pasta and eggs skillet. the eggs skillet came with all the side dishes made for a hearty breakfast set and i loved it. i wanna eat breakfast items at dinner-time always!

- look at all the meat in dear's burger!

- headed to bakerzin for dessert afterwards. totally agree with the slogan on their menu that reads "There's ALWAYS room of dessert"

- panna cotta and creme brulee heaven. =)

Its dear's birthday in less than 1 hour's time so i am rushing my entry now because i doubt i would have time to update during the next few days. I will be giving him a little surprise, which i had been planning for quite some time now. rather excited about it myself so stay tuned for updates on that. =)

- dinner at aston specialities. their burger is to-die-for and i dare say even better than some of those served in up-market cafes and restaurants.

- dinner at the chinese restaurant at SICC. specially ordered their "peng cai" 3 days in advance because i missed having this chinese new year speciality dish so much. anyway, it was basically the highlight of that meal.

- all the goodies in the peng cai dish. abalone, scallop, mushroom, fish maw, etc etc.

- found this italian restaurant, la cantina in venetia, tucked in the rather obscure changi village hotel. located at the top level of the hotel, they have this really amazing view of the sea. everything we ordered was so good and we had already went back there a few times since then.

- the setup + pre-dinner drinks of italian soda and frozen margarita.

- the starters: clams in white wine sauce, seafood soup, calamari and another mojito drink.

- the chef or owner of the place must be a huge fan of that italian car and its F1 driver.

- our mains: the raikkonen pizza, crabmeat pasta in tomato cream sauce and linguini amatriciana. the crabmeat pasta had so many huge chunks of crabmeat that its totally worth the price.

- took a walk and checked out the hotel after our dinner. was surprised how lovely the place was, which made it a rather good choice for a weekend getaway.

- met ting in town and had lunch at the hk cafe at Ion cause everywhere else was so crowded. walked around a little and ended up sitting down again at bakerzin for some dessert and drinks. dear picked me up from town afterwards and we headed to the yacht club for bbq dinner.

- both of us in florals that day.

- chocolate cake and drinks at bakerzin. my strawberry lavender lime soda drink tasted kinda perculiar.

- one last toilet shot before heading off.

- dear and his favourite coconut milk and gula melaka concoction before dinner.

- then came all the sinful bbq food + laksa and club sandwhich! im a sucker for their bbq king prawns, eating up to 4 of them in one sitting.

- was craving for chicken rice and decided to queue for the famous tian tian chicken rice that anthony bourdain raved about at maxwell food centre. luckily we went there slightly early because the line was crazy when we left. verdict of the chicken rice? it was good for sure but i rather go for my chicken rice fix at boon tong kee and skip the queue anytime.

- had a ferrari drive on national day. arrived at dempsey carpark at 6am, which was such an unearthly hour for us that we decided to forgo sleep for one night and go straight for the drive. had such a huge turnout that the cars had to be split into 4 teams before heading off on the planned route. too bad it was such a wet and dreary morning and it kept drizzling throughout the whole drive. ended up at changi airport for breakfast afterwards before heading off.

- the sun was barely up when we arrived at dempsey. thank god dear's place is less than 5 mins away from there.

- me and the red.

- the assortment of automobiles.

- this has gotta be the most interesting thing i saw that morning. a yellow lamborghini that has a L plate displayed on the windscreen! so much for subtlety huh.

- the briefing of the routes to take before we set off.

- started to drizzle when we left dempsey carpark.

- us, looking rather awake despite the lack of sleep.

- throughout the drive.

- dear with his beloved scuderia at the pitstop @ yishun dam. headed to changi airport for breakkie afterwards.

- these are some of the pics the taken by the professionals. had more than 150 pictures uploaded online but i chose a selected few, that had dear's scud in it, to put up here. car lovers, enjoy! =)

- the group picture of team delta at yishun dam. dear and i went for dimsum brunch at st regis after leaving changi airport but i'll leave those photos for the next entry. til next week!
